Columbans Applaud "Dream and Promise Act of 2019"

Dreamers, Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders, and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) holders’ lives are deeply woven into the fabric of our country, our economy, and our faith communities. The terminations of DACA, TPS, and DED have ripped a hole through this fabric, leaving the lives of over a million people in a state of uncertainty and fear.

As followers of the Gospel, we honor God’s mandate  to welcome the stranger and protect family unity.

“This is why Columbans stand in strong, unequivocal support of the newly-introduced Dream and Promise Act of 2019,” said Scott Wright, Director of the Columban Center for Advocacy and Outreach. “This is a historic opportunity for Congress to provide permanent, much needed protections. We applaud this step toward a more just and humane immigration system and strongly urge all Members of Congress to ensure these permanent protections with a pathway to citizenship are promptly passed.”

About the Columban Center
The Columban Center for Advocacy and Outreach (CCAO) is a ministry of the Missionary Society of St. Columban in the United States. CCAO believes that policies and decisions should be informed by the experiences of the people most impacted by those policies and decisions. We advocate for peace and justice, and are guided by the Gospels, Catholic Social Teaching, and the experience of Columban missionaries and the communities they serve.
