The Synod on the Amazon
In October of 2019, the Vatican will host a Synod of Bishops for the Pan-Amazon region with the theme "The Amazon: New paths for the Church and for integral ecology."
The Missionary Society of St. Columban has lived in the Amazon region and accompanied the communities that call it home, including the natural world, for over half a century. Columban missionaries are involved in the Synod process and are co-founders of REPAM - the Pan-Amazonia Ecclesial Network - which connects and strengthens the work of the Church in the Amazon region so that its cry of pain can be heard.
In the months leading up to the Synod, Columbans from across the world will be contributing to a series of articles about the Synod process, the Amazon region, and the work for peace and justice happening there. This page will compile those articles in the order that they are published.
